MLA Oneil Carlier was a geotechnical technician with 20 years of experience working with Agriculture Canada. He was also a regional representative of the Public Service Alliance of Canada.

He obtained his certificate from the Labour College of Canada in 1997.

In addition to his duties as the MLA for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne, MLA Carlier is also the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and Deputy Government House Leader.

He moved to Alberta from Saskatchewan in 2002 and currently resides in Whitecourt-Ste. Anne with his wife, Michèle.
